With me, it was sudden. I’m the only one in my entire family with anything like this. It was very sudden, I saw a new doctor for a physical, she noticed that I was vitamin D deficient 2 years ago, and told me about this disease. Then she asked if I had been having any bowel problems, to which I said yes, because I’ve always had horrible gas (which has been present since… being 9 or 10.) and lately had been… irregular I guess. So she told me to try this diet, tried it, and realized “holy cow, I feel BETTER”. I never knew I didn’t feel good to begin with!!! So I’ve been on this diet since June/July of this year, and with it, an allergy to wheat was discovered. I don’t know how I’ve been surviving, but I binged on wheat foods for 3 days and had an anaphylactic response. If I have just tiny bit in an isolated situation, I’ll have hives for weeks. I’ve also had upper GI pain lately when I eat. I have other signs and symptoms too but I have no idea what’s going on most of the time. Contact your doctor :/ What do you mean by on and off?
What I mean is some days I’m fine, but some days - like today and the past couple - I get sick. Now, on the days I’m fine I don’t remember if I was eating anything with gluten, you know? Apparently we’re scheduling an appointment with the doctor to get things checked out and make sure it’s not some other serious condition.
Also: thank you to everyone who’s been responding to this. All the replies are very helpful.
